Passionate, Proven and Purposeful

As a lifelong Prince Georgian, business owner, and mother, I came into office seeking to improve the quality of life of our residents through community engagement, economic development, and initiatives focusing on health and education. I view health and education as the components to wealth building, and creating pathways to the middle class.

It Has Been an Honor to Partner With and Build Coalitions to Create Initiatives to Better Our Communities, Such as My Legacy Projects and Legislation (Partial List Below):

  • The District 8 Prescription Assistance Program to provide discounted and free Rx to those who are underinsured, not insured, or simply need co-payment assistance to ensure their chronic diseases are managed, no matter their financial situations (Partnership with Adventist Health Care, Greater Baden (FQHC), Allentown Discount Pharmacy & MECMO Pharmacy and initial $60K seed grant I was awarded).
  • The District 8 Drone Camp for elementary, middle, and high school students to learn STEAM applications build their own drones, code, and learn various drone applications for future self-employment. The FREE camps were hosted at Oxon Hill High School, as well as the SPARX CENTER on Joint Base Andrews. The 4-week camps consisted of sessions that included 3 in-person learning hours on Saturdays and 1-hour virtual session with representatives from various Intelligence Community ("IC") organizations on Wednesdays, to further educate and provide pathways to internships. The idea is to eventually incorporate this program throughout our schools, along with other Para-medical STEAM training, so that our children can achieve licensing, clearances, credentials, and certifications before graduation, assuring their trajectory toward success in the new economy and family-supporting jobs, regardless of attending college. (Partnership with Dwayne Stepter/Global Air Drone Academy, Joint Base Andrews Command Staff & The Intelligence Community, Rosecroft Fund).
  • #DRIVINGITHOME established vehicle, pedestrian, and biking public safety roadway education. I created the initiative in response to the frequency of crashes in an effort to change driving culture and SAVE LIVES. It served as the County's Vision Zero initiative and expanded regionally to Washington, DC, Montgomery Co., and Fairfax Co., VA. (Partnered with Prince George's Co. public Schools, Hon. Brandon T. Todd (District of Columbia), Hon. William Jawando (Montgomery Co., MD) Hon. Dan Storck (Fairfax Co.)
  • Initiated a Universal Design Bill to reimagine new construction of housing to be inclusive in accessibility and visitability. This has been a "Best Practice" in Arizona and has proven to be a value-add for residential home resale prices, increasing in-home care options, reducing healthcare cost burden for individual homeowners and the State of Maryland, improving safety for first responders and visit-ability for those with access and mobility challenges. (Conni Allen Evans - Universal Design Consultant)
  • Lead sponsor of Army Corps of Engineers Flood Study in Prince George's Co. - BILL PASSED- to look at the impact of new rain patterns, upstream development, and attendant behavior causing downstream flooding, sinkholes, and land erosion in order to take corrective action to save lives, homes and businesses.
